Edward Harold Rainey, 87, of Hickory Flat, passed away in Ripley, Mississippi, on February 4, 2025. He was born in Walnut, Mississippi, on November 3, 1937, to Henry Fray Rainey and Ruby Wommack Rainey. Mr Rainey was an agent with the Marshall County office of Farm Bureau Insurance for thirty seven years, and a member of Potts Camp First Baptist Church for fifty five years, where he served as chairman of the deacons. Mr Rainey was also a veteran of the United States Army and the United States Air Force. He loved horses, trail rides, horse shows, and spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchldren, and family.
Mr Rainey is survived by a son, Eddie Fray Rainey (Traci) of Booneville, and two daughters, Lesia Rainey Carnell (Chris) of Hickory Flat and Cheryl Rainey Cox (Bobby), also of Hickory Flat. He also leaves three brothers, Wilford Rainey of Walls, David Rainey of Walnut and Jerry Rainey of Ripley, and two sisters, Betty Rose and Linda Holley, both of Ripley, ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Mr Rainey was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Bingham Rainey, and a sister, Billie Tapp.
Services for Mr Rainey will be held in the Chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home on Saturday, February 8, 2025, 11:00 am. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening, February 7 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. Burial, following the service will be at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Hickory Flat. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St Jude Childrens' Hospital. |
