A life well lived : a Son, Brother, Husband, Father and a man that always loved others.
James Ricky Taylor, 67, of Hickory Flat MS, departed this life for his eternal home
on January 20, 2025. Born August 6, 1957 in Potts Camp MS to James Russell Taylor
and Annie Lois Hunsucker Taylor.
He was a devoted husband to Wanda Courson Taylor and loving father to Ashley, Justin,
Rick and Michael. He was a hard working and dedicated family man. He spent 25 years
working as an owner/operator truck driver. He served his country proudly in the United
States Army and continued in the Army National Guard. Despite his many responsibilities,
he always made time for his family and his passions.
He was a man of not only kindness but compassion, leaving a lasting impact on everyone
who knew him. His fun loving personality was one of a kind and he always had a joke or
prank to pull.. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman often
spending his weekends riding his side by side. His love for the outdoors was something
he shared with his children and grandchildren, often camping, four wheeler riding, running
dogs, skeet shooting, and sharing his love of all things outdoors.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Wanda Courson Taylor, daughter Ashley Towery (Jerry)
sons, Justin Taylor (Britney), Rick Taylor(Ashley) and Michael Taylor( Rachelle). Grandchildren, Andrew Towery (Madison), Allie Brooke Towery, Parker Taylor, Preston Taylor, Peyton Taylor, Drake Taylor, Vivian Milsaps (Tyler) , Eric Michael Taylor(Brynn), Savannah Taylor, Jackson Taylor, Ryan Dunn(Taylor), great grandchildren, Asher Dunn and Zelda Dunn, his beloved mother in law Ouida Collins Courson, and a sister Teresa Taylor as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
Mr. Taylor is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Annie Lois Taylor, brothers, Roger
Dale Taylor and Lynn Taylor, sister Tammy Taylor and his father in law, Wade Courson Jr.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 5:00-9:00 at Faith Baptist Church
in Hickory Flat, MS. Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 at 2:00 Faith
Baptist Church Hickory Flat MS with Bro Donald Worsham officiating.
Burial will be in McKay Cemetery in Hickory Flat following the service.
Pallbearers will be Justin Taylor, Rick Taylor, Michael Taylor, Jerry Towery, Andrew Towery,
Eric Michael Taylor and Jackson Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Parker Taylor, Preston
Taylor and Drake Taylor.
