Bettie was born on June 21, 1934, in Potts Camp, to the late Anderson
Howell and Maggie Gurley Howell.  A member of First Baptist Church of Holly
Springs, Bettie retired from the Marshall County Tax Assessor/Collectors office in
Holly Springs. Her interests in life were, above all, her family. She enjoyed
working in the garden to have fresh food to prepare for her family. Bettie also
loved knitting blankets and dishcloths for her family and friends, then gifting
these creations to show thanks and love. She knitted her dishcloths from
repurposing and recycling yarn to create the one-of-a-kind cloths, which hundreds
of people have enjoyed over the years.

Ms. Colston spent time watching all types of sports, as well as putting puzzles
together, the more pieces, the better; she admired the challenge they gave her.
Reading books was something she engaged in often, and she was a woman who
loved collecting cookbooks. She also created and organized a vast collection of
recipes. She took pride in creating many of those amazing tasting recipes in
her own kitchen for her family and friends to enjoy throughout the years.

Many will remember Bettie, but those who will cherish her memory the most are
her 3 daughters, Bonita Colston Stephens (Mark) of Jackson, Tennessee, Nancy Colston
Bynum (David) of Batesville, and Stephenie Colston Warren (Phil) of Thaxton, as well her sister, Bill Herron of Ashflat, Arkansas, brothers Tommy Howell (Susan) of
Potts Camp, and Max Howell (Terrye) of Killen, Alabama. She treasured her 4 precious
grandchildren, Jana Stephens, Case Bynum, Mary-Colston Warren, and Anna Grace
Warren.

In addition to her parents, Bettie was preceded in death by her husband, Grady S.
Colston, infant daughter, Barbara Jean Colston and 3 siblings, Kathryn Bobo, Dovie Jo Humphreys and Ted Howell.

Pallbearers for Mrs.Colston's service were David Bynum, Joey Howell, Monty Howell, Art Humphreys, Dwain Humpheys, Gene Moore, Thomas Wall, and Phil Warren.  Honorary pall bearers were Kenny Colston and Eugene Howell.
