Bertha Louise Smith

Bertha Louise Willis Smith went home to her Lord and Savior on on June 14, 2024, at the age of 77.  She was born on April 1, 1947, to the late Buck and Edna WIllis in Mt Pleasant, Mississippi.

Bertha was married to James WIllie Smith, Sr, for thirty one years, at the time of his death in 1998,  She was a member of Carey Chapel Baptist Church for fifty one years.  Bertha had many roles in life, but her greatest was being MawMaw to "Lily Lou", for whom she prayed for many years.

Bertha is survived by her son, James W Smith Jr (Amy); her grandchildren, Jordan Latham (Luke), Corbin Nunn, and Lllian "Lily Lou" Smith; great granddaughter, Sutton Latham; her brothers Daniel Willis (Maudie) and Curtis Willis (Margaret); her sister, Brenda Willis; and many special niecees and nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Julian Paul Willis, Louie Wayne Willis, John Eddie Willis, Donnie Mae Wilson, and Dorothy Ann Bryant.

Services for Bertha Smith will be held at Carey Chapel Baptist Church on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 2:00 pm.  A visitation for family and friends will begin at noon, and continue until service time.  The Holly Springs Funeral Home has charge.

Pallbears will be Harold Bryant Jr, Corbin Nunn, Davy "Bubba" Willis, WIlliam Watson, RIck Bolden, and Brian Langston.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cary Chapel Church Playground Fund.

I'm truly going to miss my sister so so very much. We went everywhere together. We done everything together from working together, Even had our sons in the same year and going camping and visiting our brother in Alabama. We were always going somewhere. I love you bunches my sister. She was my sister and my mother and my best friend. RIP NOW MY SWEET SISTER. WE WILL SEE YOU IN HEAVEN. YOU ARE WITH JAMES WILLIE AND DADDY AND MAMA AND YOUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS NOW. REST WELL.

Going to the Midsouth Fair and camping with you and Uncle James Willie and James Jr. Me and mom stayed with you for a while. RIP sweet lady I love you bunches. Tell mawmaw I miss her too.
