On Saturday, June 15, 2024, Mrs Katie Louise Clifton Skelton, lifelong resident of Ashland, Mississippi, departed this life for her heavenly home. She was born July 10, 1935, in Potts Camp, Mississippi, to George Brad and Effie Veller Fuller Clifton. Katie was the tenth of thirteen children born of this union. Katie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ashland, Mississippi.
Katie married the love of her life, Billy Richard Skelton on January 10, 1953. She spent her life working at ITT Thompson factory in Holly Springs and raising their four children to be upstanding citizens of society. Katie and Billy were very proud of their children and their accomplishments.
Later, when Katie retired, she worked part time at the Flower Shop and as a greeter at the Wal-Mart in Holly Springs, because she loved to talk so much.
Katie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Billy Richard Skelton. He passed away on May 12, 2002.
Katie is survived by her children, Dale (Shirley) Skelton of Blue Springs, Pamela (Jim) Camferdam of Collierville, Tennessee, Ouida (Richard) Hayes of Germantown, Tennessee, and Trent (Lesley) Skelton of Ashland. Katie also leaves nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, and her special furbaby, Alice.
Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs Katie will be held in the Chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home (1160 Hwy 311, Holly Springs, Mississippi 38635) on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 3:00 pm. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00, and last until service time. Burial will be in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashland, Mississippi.
Pall bearers will be Kyle Hayes, Brian Jeanes, Patrick Nowlin, Colt Perriotti, Matt Skaggs, and Taylor Skelton. Honorary pallbearers will be Vince Hoyt and Clay Skelton. Brother Randy Mauney will officiate. |
