Jennifer Lynn O’Brien passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on December 22, 2024. She was 64 years old.
Jennifer was born on February 3, 1960, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Billy and Shirley Coopwood. She grew up in the small town of Mount Pleasant, Mississippi, before setting off to pursue her dreams. After earning a two-year degree at a business college in Memphis, she moved to Dallas, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Michael O’Brien. Together, they built a life filled with adventure, love, and mutual support. Jennifer and Michael later moved to Chicago, Illinois, where Jennifer excelled in entrepreneurship and founded JCS Computer Resource. Jennifer and Michael then settled in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where they continued to build their family.
Jennifer had a keen eye for antiques and was an avid collector, finding beauty in the most unique and eclectic pieces. Her home was filled with treasures that reflected her warmth, creativity, and appreciation for the past.
Throughout her many adventures, Jennifer never forgot her roots. She worked tirelessly to support her hometown, and until her passing, she was actively involved in efforts to encourage donations for her hometown’s church in Mount Pleasant, reflecting her deep commitment to her community. As a mother, and grandmother, Jennifer was the epitome of selflessness, always putting the needs of her family first. Jennifer’s love for her family knew no bounds, and she will be remembered for her unwavering devotion and generosity. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and dedication.
Loving wife of Michael O’Brien for 36 years. Cherished mother of Christine Martinez (Ysais) and Michael Sean O’Brien. Devoted grandmother of Theodore, Mariana, Sophia, and Isabel. Dear sister of Mayre Coopwood-DiBiasi (Billie) and Donald Coopwood. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Billy Coopwood, and siblings, Bill Coopwood, Lorraine Coopwood, Michael Coopwood, and her twin brother John Coopwood.
Following a service at the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, Jennifer will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Methodist Cemetery in Holly Springs, Mississippi. The church service will begin at 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 31. The church is located at 8 Methodist Street, Mt. Pleasant, MS 38635.
