Charles Brian Patton

Charles Brian “Charlie” Patton, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, died
peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on July 31, 2024, from pancreatic cancer.
He was 52 years old. Born on September 12, 1971, in Mobile, Alabama, to Belinda
Rogers and Thomas Patton, he was raised in Ft. Walton Beach, FL, with his siblings,
Jason Patton and Jennifer Harnevious. Eventually, the family moved to Memphis, TN,
and he would spend his entire adult life in the western Tennessee and northern
Mississippi areas.

After high school, Charlie began working as a surveyor, which suited his love of the
outdoors and attention to detail. It wasn’t long before his precision and diligent work
ethic led him to more complicated projects and a life-long career where his proficiency
with software and new technologies, such as drones, brought Charlie success and the
respect of his peers.

Charlie had a variety of interests and hobbies that reflected his personality. He loved the
history and detail of the coins he collected. He admired the craftsmanship and power of
the guns he owned and took pride in a job well done whenever he built or fixed
something. He learned patience from fishing, and being a free spirit, he loved the
freedom of being outdoors. He enjoyed all these interests and more, but his three loves
were his family, fishing, and Alabama football.

A loving husband, Charlie is survived by his wife, Dixie, who was also his best friend,
partner, and North Star. Their love and devotion to each other created a life of joy and
contentment for them to share in good and hard times.

Charlie is also survived by his two daughters, Shelby Fitzgerald (Husband-Hunter
Fitzgerald) and Sydney Phillips (Husband-Michael Phillips). As a devoted father, he took
pride in providing for his children and was always there to guide and help them
whenever they needed him. He was so proud and grateful he could watch them mature,
marry, and have their own children. His legacy will be honored and kept alive through
them and his cherished grandchildren, Finn, Eli, and Aaliyah.

Charlie's father, Thomas Patton, preceded him in death, but his memory is carried and
cherished by his mother, Belinda Rogers, his stepfather, Ritchie Williams, and his
siblings, Jason Patton, and Jennifer Harnevious (husband, Chris Harnevious).

Charlie was a man of few words; however, he had a quiet strength and straightforward
manner that could speak volumes. Never one to complain, he faced his cancer
diagnosis like he faced everything in his life – with courage, tenacity, and a willingness
to work hard. His life was a testament to the power of one’s actions, treating people
fairly and with dignity, and the impact one person can have on the world around him.

Charlie will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His spirit, characterized by
generosity, strength of character, and a genuine love for life, will continue to live on in
the hearts of his family, friends, and all the lives he touched. The memories he created
will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.

Services for Charlie will be held in the Chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 12:30 pm. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 11:30am, and continue until service time. Please leave a message on his wall below his obituary.

I will never forget Charlie as a kid, thinking I had a carrot tree when he saw the cones on the Douglas fir. As a 50year old he loved the humming birds and his family of pleated woodpeckers. He loved life and everyone loved him.
